Meet Mrs. C
So you’d like to know a little bit more about your teacher, would you? Well, I’ll start from the beginning. I was born in Teaneck, NJ on March 24, 19…. wait a minute! I’m not telling you how old, I mean YOUNG, I am! Nice try.
I grew up in a very small town called Wallkill, NY, graduating as Salutatorian of my class, and went to college at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. After graduating with a BA in Art and Art History with Elementary Certification, I was hired in Madison to teach at Jeffrey School. I spent two years at Jeffrey and most of the rest at Island Avenue School. During that time, I finished a MS at Central Connecticut State University in Reading/Math, got married, and had two lovely daughters.
In my free time (haha, hard to find any of that these days), I enjoy running, drawing and painting, and loudly singing along to the radio, itunes, or Taylor’s silly kids’ songs. We have nightly dance parties in Kaelyn’s room. Believe it or not, I used to sing in an a cappella group in college called The Resolutions. It was a blast, and I even had my own solo on our cd one year. Maybe if you’re lucky, I’ll let you listen to it one day.
Another one of my favorite things to do is spend time with my brothers and sisters. That may sound strange to you, but when you grow up you really get a lot closer with your siblings. I am the oldest of SIX siblings. When I was your age, I shared a room with not just one but my TWO sisters, Doni and Jenna!! Imagine that?! We may not have gotten along perfectly when we were younger, but now that we’re all grown up and have our own space, we are closer than ever. In fact, you may actually get to meet some of them during our year together.
This is my ninth year teaching and it’s still just as magical as the first day I set foot in room 24 as a brand new teacher.
You can always contact me anytime in a number of ways. You could add a comment right here, email me at connellc@madison.k12.ct.us, or leave a voicemail at 203-245-6475 ext. 7163. I look forward to hearing from you!

Can you please put our class picture on here when you get one? Thank you.
I absolutely will, Jake! Please remind me to bring my camera to school, or borrow one from the library.
Hi, it’s Mandy. I am checking out your blog. I am very happy to have you as a teacher.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not know you are the oldest of 6 brothers and sisters
Your daughters are so cute! Which one is Taylor and which one is Kaelyn, and how old are they?
Can you be more specific? What do you like about it?
We’ll see. You’ll have to earn some serious Connell Cash.
What was your favorite subject in school?
Well, I always enjoyed math and science. I loved to read. Writing stories was also very fun. It was so interesting to learn about history. As you can see, I loved most everything about school, which is why I decided to become a teacher!
HA!! HA!! I remember (model class) from today!!!!!
Switcher zoo is so awesome everyone should check it out!
Hi Mrs. Connell,I was just checking out your blog and I read you were the oldest of 6 siblings and I couldn’t imagine having 6 siblings!
It was very loud and wild in our house, and we had no personal space. I had to share a room with both sisters!
I was just wondering if you could post the website we used to make our calendars, because I’m trying to make something at my house.
Hi Chase, we used Microsoft Publisher – which is a program that is installed on computers. It is not a website, but you can buy the program or we can use snack time for projects.

Worshippers went to the meetinghouse for lengthy Sunday services; meetinghouses also served as centers for town meetings, elections, lectures, and political events
Tinware competed successfully with pottery and was sold directly from the shops, sent to local stores, or marketed by peddlers.
Small shops like this one were part of a fast-growing industry that produced large quantities of footwear for distant markets
I just wanted to let you know that I went to the blog and worked on my yearbook page!
Delaney,
HW is to work on your writing piece, which is attached in today’s post.
Mandy,
I’m so glad you worked on your piece. Please either email me your revised work, or print it off to turn in tomorrow. I’m not sure if your progress will change within the link.
My mom has to go to my brother’s play at Polson in the morning until 9:15am, if she misses the bus she will drive to Circle Beach herself and meet us there.
Thanks, Mandy
We’ll wait until she gets there if she’ll be on her way… or she can meet us..
Hi Mrs.Connell, I was just on the computer and I wanted to say hi. So far, the life at Brown has been going great and it has been a lot of fun. Having to go from class to class each day and since the fact there’s much more work, you usually get used to it. If not, you just have to deal with whatever comes at you.
