What Does the ITS Do?

My Job Description

So what does my ITS position consist of exactly? How, exactly, do I assist the teachers of Madison? My responsibilities range from helping teachers manage gradebooks and attendance in Infinite Campus, to co-teaching tech-centric lessons and equipping teachers to co-teach lessons with teachers from other buildings via Web cams. And, while I am not the person who performs hardware fixes or installs software onto your computer, I am here to help you better understand how to use the different features of these software applications, including those that allow teachers to establish a Web presence through teacher Web pages.

Another exciting part of my job is helping teachers develop new and innovative ways to integrate technology into their learning units and daily lessons and provide their students with some real–buzz word alert!–21st Century Learning. Of course, this involves providing teachers with the training they will need to use this technology effectively, and I am happy to deliver that as well.

It’s an exciting time for education in terms of the tech-potential that is out there. I realize that, for some, this translates into a scary time. However, I believe that together we can find ways to use technology in your classrooms that make teaching not only more fun, but in some cases even easier. I look forward to working with you.

If you are not sure who to turn to when you are in the midst of a tech crisis, this MPS Tech Department link shows you whom to contact.
