Today, we started working in Dreamweaver.  Students really enjoyed the ease of use of the program.  Please keep in mind though, that any worked missed due to absence will be much more difficult to make up.  If you do need to make up work, there are two computers in the library that have Dreamweaver installed on them.

What did you think of Dreamweaver?  From what you have seen so far, do you think learning HTML first will be of use to you?

An important part of learning HTML is learning to find any coding errors.  We call this debugging your code.  The attached sheet has a practice debugging and some sample Intro to HTML questions.    Some things to look for are tags that do not have an ending tag, ending tags that are missing the slash, and tags that are misspelled.

The HTML quiz will be on Tuesday, December 22.

We are continuing to work on HTML.  Today’s powerpoint covered lists, bold, italics, underline, line, and graphics.  Links to both HTML PowerPoints are below.  We were just practicing using those new codes today and we will start working on Chapter 2 in the book tomorrow.

We had a shortened class today (47 minutes) due to the snow delay.  We continued working on HTML.  Today, we started to learn the code for an internal link (a link to another page within the website).

Site of the day:
www.thevirtualpiano.com - Jordan showed us a site that lets you play piano by clicking on the piano keys.  May be good for a beginner to start to learn some of the notes.

As a class we have evaluated school websites, sites with different extensions, and most recently we evaluated websites based on credibility.  Today, Monday, we began to look at a sites  homepage specifically.  We read an article on homepage architecture and we will be mapping out four different homepages.  Do not forget to look critically at each of these sites for items you believe work well and items that you do not like.

Today, we went over the Dreamweaver Review.  The test consists of 24 fill in the blank questions with a word bank and you will need to create a 3 page website.

Here are a few more questions to review before the test.

Which target do you select for a link that you want to open in a new browser window?

Where is the properties inspector located?

What type of form field only lets you select one option?

What company makes Dreamweaver?
